News:  Puppies have arrived on 30 October 2008!

Robin Toula, rtoula@tx.rr.com; (469)569-4567; Petey was pulled by me from the Mesquite Shelter on October 27th, 2004. At that time he was approximately a year old or less…so we shall say he is 5 years old. He is neutered.

I'm Petey and I live with Robin Toula, rtoula@tx.rr.com; (469)569-456. My mommy Robin pulled me from the Mesquite Shelter on October 27th, 2004. I was about 1 year old or less so, so now I'm about 5yrs. I'm neutered, like to get up on kitchen counters, and love to play. I am definitely a hunter with a strong prey drive and cannot be with small dogs. I am extremely sweet and love to sleep under the covers with you. I am also crate trained and like to spend time in my create to take naps. Click on my photo album to look at pictures and contact Robin if you are interested in giving me a new home!  (10 Jan 2009)

Tips:  Whippets have long skinny necks.  Typical collars will slip right off of their heads if they get into a bind and want to part from your company.  I recommend a 1 1/2 inch Martingale collar from Mrs. Bones.  I know her personally, and her collars are the BEST on the market, ANYWHERE.

Lone Star Whippets

Lone Star Whippets is home to one of the most unique, kind, gentle, athletic, and civilized breeds of dogs; the Whippet.  The Whippet is a Sighthound and is characterized by log powerful legs, deep chest, and delicate bone structure.  The Whippet is known for reaching speeds of approximately 35mph (56 km/h).  The Whippets beauty and athletic prowess are equally as notable as their gentle and kind nature. Whippets are often known as "couch potatoes" to the core, unless have prey to chase.

What we do is show and lure course our Whippets.  They have been selectively breed not only for their grace and beauty, but also for their athletic abilities.

To say we sell Whippets is a misnomer.  While there are most certainly puppy factories and mills around the world willing and able to quickly sell a dog at a reasonable price, Lone Star Whippets is intrinsically motivated to improving the breed and providing adoptions for our canine children.  Our litters are very few and far between.  If you think you might be interested, inquire from within.

Adoption

Before one can qualify for an adoption, there is specific minimum criteria one must prove.  We won't let one of our puppies go to just anyone.  Do you think you are willing to make a life long commitment for this canine companion?  Then you might be ready.  Click on our adoption page to read more about the screening process.
